WSOP.com Allows Players to Play Poker before Launching

The 12,000 poker players who had pre-registered at WSOP.com, a real money online poker room that is slated to be launched on Thursday, could get into the online poker action two days in advance. Caesars sent these privileged players an email notification with a download link. Currently, WSOP.com offers games such as Limit and No Limit Texas Hold’em, Limit Omaha Eight or Better, Pot Limit Omaha High, Seven Card Stud Hi Low Eight or Better, and Seven Card Stud High. Nadal To Debut In Live Poker

The coming of age of a poker player is when he plays his first live tournament. Top ranked tennis professional Rafael Nadal, popularly known as Rafa, will be playing his first live tournament in December this year. Nadal is a brand ambassador for the online poker room PokerStars and will be participating under its colors. The venue is the Prague leg of the European Poker Tour. Nadal participates in the U.S. Open tennis grand slam tournament in end August and beginning September. After that it is off-season for tennis professionals till the Australian Open in January next year. This gives Nadal sufficient time to further improve on his poker skills. Barton Drops New Online Poker Bill, Prospects Clouded

US Representative Joe Barton, a Texas Republican, has introduced a new Internet Poker Freedom Act of 2013 in Congress.  The bill was introduced yesterday and immediately referred to two separate House committees, Energy & Commerce and Financial Services.

Barton introduced a similar poker-only bill back in 2011, amid a much busier legislative look at online gambling that included multiple efforts by Barney Frank and the much-discussed Reid-Kyl effort, which failed late last year.

This bill is similar in many respects to Bartons earlier effort though a handful of elements are worth mentioning here, even if the bill is unlikely to escape from committee.

Negreanu Finishes Second But Tops Rankings

Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu finished second in the EPT Barcelona €10k High Roller event losing to Thomas Muhlocker in the heads up. But as a result of that second position, Negreanu shot to the top of the Global Poker Index (GPI) 2013 POY rankings. An ecstatic Negreanu Tweeted, “WOW! Just found out I am #1 on the @GlobalPokerIndx I cant believe it! So happy and in shock. Wow wow wow!!! Very proud right now!”
