Action was fast and furious in Event #10 of PokerStars Turbo Championship of Online Poker, a $10 rebuy tournament. The event drew 12,636 players and netted an additional 39,000 rebuys and 6,000 add-ons for a total prize pool of $579,330. This nearly doubled the PokerStars guaranteed amount of $300,000.
When the Final table was reached, it was renown poker author Jon apestyles Van Fleet who was holding the chip lead at just shy of 96 million chips. Van Fleet is an author of the popular series of poker strategy books called Winning Poker Tournaments One hand at a time. True to the advice he preaches in his books, he used his chips aggressively during his fight to take the tournament down.
Talk of a deal first popped up after the first player was eliminated, but Van Fleet quickly ended that when he quipped, I dont really like to deal. Unless you wanna give me 60k. The cards quickly went back into the air.
Pokerboeli moved all in for 32.8 million chips with pocket tens, and was called by €urop€an who held a suited Ace-King. The tens held, leaving €urop€an with just 4 million chips. He did manage to move up one playout spot after boo187uks pocket 8s fell to Sobizzle21s Queen-Jack offsuit. With 6 players now remaining, a deal was again brought up. Van Fleet still held the chiplead, but expressed some interest. Yet again, the table couldnt agree and play continued.
Van Fleets aggression backfired in an 80 million chip pot as his 9-2 of diamonds fell to StøvsugerNs dominating A-2 of clubs. This took half of Van Fleets chips, leaving him with a still playable 40 million. Although this was just 8 big blinds at this point in the tournament, the average chip stack of 60 million wasnt much larger.
Menhtinhcanh then shoved his 24 million chip stack with two red tens, but couldnt hold against redislavs K-J of hearts. Two hands later apestyles Van Fleet was completely crippled after getting it in with 10-9 offsuit against Sobizzle21s K-Q offsuit. The next hand began with him all in due to the ante, and ended with him going out in 5th place which was good for just $23,173.
Now three handed, the players agreed to pause the tournament and discuss a deal. After some debate a chip chop was agreed on, with $6,000 set aside for the winner. The chip chop resulted in a payout of:
It only took a few hands to determine the winner, StøvsugerN, whose name means vacuum in Danish. He ended up cashing for a total of $59,812. We here at FTR congratulate you StøvsugerN for your success in sucking every last one of the chips in Event #10!
The PokerStars TCOOP series continues all this week with dozens of events left to be played. The $700 buy-in $1.5 Million guaranteed event runs on Sunday the 29th. Good luck!
