Ex American Idol judge Simon Cowell is banking on the casino game of roulette for his next business venture. Cowell is working on a British television game show called Red and Black where contestants have a shot at a £1 million prize.

Cowell says that this will be the “biggest, noisiest and most expensive show in UK history.”

Cowell says he hopes to use some of Britains biggest venues, such as London’s The O2 Wembley Arena to pack the 17,000-plus audience, who will be charged just £1 to participate and contestants will be called down Price is Right style and then whittled down to one lucky contestant who will spin the roulette wheel for a chance at winning £1 million.

Meanwhile, popular British duo Ant and Dec are slated to host the show during its September run.

The Daily Star reports, “Simon is very excited about this program. It will be easily the biggest show ever seen on British television. He has been working on the concept for some time and at last everything has fallen into place and the show is good to go. It is massive in the number of contests and also the huge prize on offer on the spin of a roulette wheel – a £1m fortune resting on whether someone chooses either red or black. We’ve never seen anything like Red And Black in the UK before. It is going to be big, noisy and expensive, a real telly event. It is not only a massive gamble for the contestant, but also for Simon and ITV, but they are confident it will be a big hit.”

Red and Black is scheduled to air live on ITV1 each evening over the course of a week in September, until all the hopefuls are cut down to one. Then the roulette wheel is spun! Oh the excitement.
