It appears that the FBI have increased their efforts to bring down illegal gambling in the United States, as they seize a further ten gambling domains with the authority of a U.S. Court order in Baltimore, Maryland.

The action comes at a time when online gambling is an extremely hot topic in the United States; internet gambling has been making headlines in newspapers around the country, thanks to a barrage of legal proceedings against several high-profile online gaming operators. The action taken by the FBI means that once-popular online gaming destinations are now longer available to players within the United States. The recent seizures in Baltimore are in no way expected to be an end to the matter; industry analysts predict that there are several more indictments to come in the very near future. The Unite States government is expected to be taking the breaches very seriously; it is thought that the defendants could face a minimum of five years in prison for illegal activity, while the upper end of the punishment could be anywhere up to 20 years in prison, under the charge of money laundering. It has been reported that the defendants have not yet received a due date to appear before court. The defendants believed that they were exempt from the law due to the fact that their online gaming operations headquarters is operated by companies based outside of the region; despite this, on attorney acting on behalf of Maryland has argued that it is not acceptable for the defendants to “flout the law” simply due to the location of their headquarters.Meanwhile, more reputable online gaming providers have been wary, attempting to establish a legitimate means of trading within the country. The gaming industry as a whole will be monitoring the situation as it unfolds with great interest.Luckily, in the UK we have no such problems so you can carry on playing your casino games as normal!
